About the Hitachi Mini-Split Remote

Hitachi ductless systems are known for running quietly for a long time, which means the remote often wears out before the equipment does. Faded buttons, a dead screen or a remote that simply disappeared are all good reasons to swap in this replacement.

It is set up for Hitachi, with eleven Hitachi codes printed in the setup sheet. Try them in order until the indoor unit answers, then keep the one that handles every key you use. If nothing on the list works, the automatic search is there as a backup.

Setup & Pairing

Setup for a Hitachi indoor unit, start to finish:

1. Open the battery cover on the back and insert two AAA cells.
2. On the front, slide the lower panel down. SELECT is underneath. Look at the corner of each key: that small printed digit is what it enters.
3. Have the Hitachi code list ready. In order: 0118, 0119, 0120, 0121, 0122, 0123, 0124, 0125, 0126, 0630, 1145.
4. Press SELECT (the code flashes) and enter 0118, the first Hitachi code. Point at the unit and press power.
5. No reaction means press SELECT and try the next code. When the unit does react, test the other keys. If the unit responds but a button does nothing, try the next Hitachi code.
6. As a last resort, aim at the unit, hold SELECT for 5 seconds and release to start the automatic search. Press any key the moment the unit responds.

Afterward: set the clock (CLOCK, TIME +/-, CLOCK) and choose °F or °C with C/F. Note the working code inside the battery door.
