About the Fedders Air Conditioner Remote

Plenty of Fedders units are still cooling rooms long after the remotes they shipped with wore out, and those remotes can be hard to find now. This replacement is set up for Fedders. It's a good fit for Fedders window units, and for the wall-mounted ductless models the brand also sold.

Fedders has a short code list, just three: 0498, 0499 and 0528. Try those first. Because older units vary, the remote also has an automatic code search that steps through codes until your Fedders answers.

Setup & Pairing

With only three Fedders codes, setup is usually short.

Install two AAA batteries.
Slide the lower front panel down to get to SELECT. Each key has a digit printed small in its bottom-left corner; those are what you type with.
Press SELECT, wait for the code area to flash, and enter 0498.
Point at the Fedders unit. No response? Press SELECT and enter 0499, then 0528.
If the unit responds but a button does nothing, try the next Fedders code to see if it gives you more control.

If all three fail, use auto-search: keep the remote aimed at the unit and hold SELECT for 5 seconds. It sends codes one after another. As soon as the AC beeps or switches, press any key to save that code. This can take a while on an older unit, so don't give up early.

When it's working, set the clock (CLOCK, TIME +/-, CLOCK) and pick °F or °C with the C/F key.

If it came with an infrared remote, yes. Try the three Fedders codes, then let the automatic search run. If it doesn't work out, you have 90 days to return it.
