About the Harbor Breeze 00873 Remote

The Harbor Breeze 00873 is a 44-inch Mazon fan in brushed nickel. Without its remote you lose most of what makes it handy: six speeds, Natural Breeze, reverse and the dimmer. This replacement puts all of that back in one hand-held unit.

It's made for the 00873 and pairs with the receiver already in the fan. Check the model sticker on the motor housing: if it reads 00873, this is the remote you need. Setup is a power cycle and one press of Learn.

Where to mount the wall cradle

Put the cradle near the room's main entry, around light switch height, so the remote sits where you already reach. Avoid spots above a heat vent or in strong afternoon sun, since heat shortens battery life. The inside of a closet door works if you'd rather keep it out of sight.

When another remote sets off your fan

If a neighbor's remote or a second fan's remote turns your fan on, give it a new code. Slide the small DIP switch in the battery compartment from 0 to 1, then cycle the fan's power and press Learn again. The fan forgets the old code and learns the new one.

Before you order

No receiver is included. Your fan's receiver must still be working.

Setup & Pairing

Load a 12V A23 battery (sold separately) into the 00873 remote, checking the polarity marks.
Flip the fan's circuit off and on. When it powers up, the receiver sounds two tones.
Before 30 seconds pass, press Learn on the back of the remote.
Watch for the light to blink 3 times and stay lit while the fan runs on high: you're paired.
Didn't take? Start over at the power step and press Learn sooner after the tones.

Tip: try the dimmer at a low level to confirm your bulbs dim smoothly.

In the box: 00873 replacement remote, mounting cradle with screws, instructions. Add one A23 battery.
