About the Teco Mini-Split Remote

Teco is a Taiwanese manufacturer whose wall-mounted split systems are seen more often in Asia and Australia than in the US. Owners here tend to discover that a replacement remote isn't easy to come by. With only five Teco codes to try, this one is usually up and running in a few minutes.

Once a Teco code is in, the remote handles:

Power on and off
Cool, Heat, Dry, Fan and Auto
Fan speed and swing
On/off timers and a sleep mode that eases the setpoint overnight

Its backlit display shows the time and the room temperature, and you can toggle °F and °C. A wall bracket comes in the box so the remote isn't lost again. It runs on two AAA batteries (bring your own) and sends infrared up to about 25 feet with a clear line of sight.

Setup & Pairing

Five Teco codes, tried in this order: 0256, 0473, 0474, 0475, 1792.

Batteries first: two AAA under the back cover.
Open the cover on the lower front by sliding it downward. SELECT is underneath, and the small number in the bottom-left of each key is the digit it enters.
Press SELECT, enter 0256, and point at your Teco head.
If the unit stays quiet, press SELECT and enter the next Teco code.
When it reacts, check that mode, fan and temperature all work. If one doesn't, the next code in the list may give you better control.

None of the five? Hold SELECT for 5 seconds to start the automatic search. Keep the remote aimed at the unit, and press any key as soon as it beeps or turns on or off.

To finish, set the clock (press CLOCK, adjust with TIME +/−, press CLOCK) and pick °F with C/F.

How long does Teco setup take?

Usually a few minutes. There are only five Teco codes, and you test each one by pointing at the unit.

Does the sleep button work on a Teco?

On most units, yes. In Cool, sleep raises the setpoint 1 °C per hour for two hours and turns off after eight hours; Heat works the same way in reverse.

Some buttons respond and others don't. What now?

Enter the next Teco code. Different codes control different sets of functions, so one further down may give you full control.

Do I need Wi-Fi or an app?

No. It's a plain infrared remote; just point it at the indoor unit.
