Panasonic ductless heat pumps tend to stay on the wall for many years, long after the handheld has been dropped, chewed or lost. This replacement remote is set up for Panasonic and covers the controls you reach for every day.

Panasonic has a longer code list than most, twenty-three codes in all, because the brand has made many generations of indoor units. That's good news: if the first code only half works, there are plenty more to try. And if none match, the automatic search takes over.

Setup & Pairing

Panasonic setup, step by step. Expect to try a few codes.

1. Slide off the back and fit two AAA batteries.
2. Slide the front cover panel down. You need SELECT and the small digit printed in the corner of each key.
3. Press SELECT. The code display flashes.
4. Enter Panasonic codes in order, testing each with the power key: 0138, 0139, 0140, 0141, 0142, 0143, 0144, 0145, 0146, 0147, 0148, 0149, 0150, 0151, 0152, 0153, 0154, 0483, 0490, 0491, 0492, 0653, 1507.
5. When the indoor unit responds, test heat, cool, fan and swing. If it responds but a button does nothing, press SELECT and try the next Panasonic code. Keep the code that runs the most.
6. If you reach the end of the list, aim at the unit, hold SELECT for 5 seconds and release. Press any key as soon as the unit responds to save the code it found.

Final touches: set the time with CLOCK and TIME +/-, then CLOCK again, and press C/F for Fahrenheit.
