About the Kelon Mini-Split Remote

Kelon split systems are sold mainly outside the US, so if you own one here, a matching remote is rarely on a store shelf. Many owners bought their unit through an importer or moved it from abroad. This remote gives you a way back to full comfort control without hunting for the original.

It's built around a code you enter once. Kelon has eleven codes in the instructions, which gives you several chances to find the one that suits your particular indoor unit. After setup you get:

Cool, Heat, Dry, Fan and Auto modes
Fan speed, swing and vane control
On and off timers plus a sleep setting
A backlit LCD showing the time and room temperature, switchable to °F
A wall bracket so the remote has a fixed spot

Signal is infrared, so keep a line of sight to the indoor head; range is about 25 feet. You'll need two AAA batteries, which aren't included. Every order from FanRemotes.com carries a 1-year warranty and 90-day returns, and we ship the same day when you order by 4 PM Central.

Setup & Pairing

Kelon codes to try, in order: 0282, 0283, 0284, 0285, 0286, 0287, 0473, 0485, 0486, 0487, 0488.

Fit two AAA batteries under the back cover, polarity as marked.
Lower the slide-down panel at the bottom of the face. You'll see SELECT, plus small numbers in the bottom-left corners of the keys; those numbers are how you type a code.
Tap SELECT (the code digits blink) and enter 0282.
Point at the Kelon unit. If it doesn't react, tap SELECT and enter the next code from the list above.
When the unit wakes up, check temperature, mode and fan. A unit that responds while some button stays dead usually wants the next Kelon code.

If all eleven fail, try auto-search: aim the remote, hold SELECT about 5 seconds, release, and wait. Press any key the moment the indoor unit beeps or changes to store that code. Keep a note of a code you typed in by hand.

Then set the clock (CLOCK, TIME +/−, CLOCK) and choose °F or °C with the C/F key.

The remote sends infrared, which Kelon wall units use regardless of where they were sold. Try the Kelon codes in order; if none respond, run the automatic search. If it still won't pair, our 90-day returns cover you.

Start with 0282, then go down the list: 0283, 0284, 0285, 0286, 0287, 0473, 0485, 0486, 0487, 0488.

Will my old remote's special buttons carry over?

Everyday controls like mode, temperature, fan, swing, timers and sleep usually do. Extras unique to your original Kelon remote may not.

Can it show Fahrenheit?

Yes. Press the C/F key to change the screen between °C and °F.
