About the Daikin Mini-Split Remote

Daikin is one of the biggest names in US ductless comfort, and its wall-mounted and multi-zone indoor heads all lean on a handheld remote. Lose that remote and you lose easy access to modes, set point and louvers. This replacement remote is set up for Daikin and gives that access back.

If your original remote was an ARC452A series remote, such as the ARC452A21, this is a straightforward way to replace it. Setup takes one Daikin code from the instructions; there are eighteen to work through, and an automatic search if you need it.

On a multi-zone Daikin system, each indoor head has its own receiver, so aim at the head you want to change. It runs on two AAA batteries (not included), carries a 1-year warranty and ships the same day when you order by 4 PM Central.

Setup & Pairing

Daikin setup is a one-time code entry. Keep the indoor head in view while you do it.

Install two AAA batteries under the back cover.
Slide the small door on the front of the remote down to uncover the hidden keys, including SELECT. The digit each key enters is printed in its lower-left corner.
Press SELECT. When the code digits flash, key in a Daikin code.
Work through the Daikin codes in this order: 0171, 0172, 0173, 0174, 0175, 0176, 0177, 0178, 0179, 0180, 0181, 0182, 0183, 0566, 0577, 0583, 0685, 1707.
After each code, aim at the indoor head and press power. When it beeps or starts, check mode, temperature and swing. If the head responds but a button does nothing, enter the next Daikin code.
Backup plan: aim at the head, press and hold SELECT for 5 seconds, then release. The remote cycles through codes on its own. Press any key the instant the head responds to save that code.

Tip: set the clock with CLOCK, TIME +/- and CLOCK again so the timers run at the right hour, and use C/F if the screen shows Celsius.

My Daikin remote was an ARC452A21. Will this replace it?

If your original remote was an ARC452A series remote like the ARC452A21, this replacement is set up for Daikin with the Daikin codes. Start with 0171 and work down the list until every key you use responds.

I have a multi-zone Daikin system. Do I need one remote per head?

Each indoor head listens for infrared on its own, so a remote controls whichever head it is aimed at. Many owners keep one remote per room so each zone can be changed from where people sit.

Some Daikin codes switch the unit on but won't change the temperature. Is that normal?

Yes, some codes only match part of a unit. Move on to the next Daikin code; most units get full control from one of them.

Where is the SELECT key?

Behind the slide-down panel on the lower front of the remote, with the other setup keys.
