About the Chigo Mini-Split Remote

Chigo has shown its high-wall mini-splits, both heat pump and cooling-only, to US buyers, and many of the units in American homes came through importers and online sellers. That makes a lost remote hard to replace at a local store. This Comfort Direct remote is set up for Chigo: enter one of the eight Chigo codes and it takes over the everyday controls of your ductless head.

After it's matched, choose Cool, Heat, Dry, Fan or Auto, step the fan speed, move the vane, and schedule on/off timers or sleep. The backlit LCD keeps the clock and room temperature in view, and a single key flips the readout between °F and °C.

Look at the tip of your old Chigo remote: a small dark lens there means your system listens for infrared, which is what this remote sends. Order by 4 PM Central and it leaves FanRemotes.com the same day.

Setup & Pairing

Plan on a few minutes standing in front of the indoor unit.

Slide off the back cover and load two AAA batteries, matching the + and − marks.
Pull down the panel on the lower front of the remote. The SELECT key lives behind it, and every key there has a small digit printed in its bottom-left corner.
Press SELECT so the code area flashes, then key in 0379 with those corner digits.
Aim at the Chigo head and press power. No reaction? Press SELECT again and work down the rest of the Chigo list in this order: 0380, 0381, 0382, 0489, 0515, 1403, 1916.
Once the unit answers, test mode, temperature and fan. If the head responds but one of those buttons does nothing, move on to the next Chigo code, since a later one may cover more.

Backup, auto-search: point at the unit, hold SELECT for 5 seconds and let go. The remote sends codes one after another; the instant the Chigo beeps or switches, press any key to keep that code.

Finish up: press CLOCK, set the time with TIME +/−, press CLOCK again, then tap C/F if you prefer Fahrenheit.

Where do I find the model of my Chigo indoor unit?

Most Chigo heads carry a rating label on one side of the indoor unit or just under the front cover. You don't need the model to set up this remote, but it helps if you contact us with a question.

How many Chigo codes are there to try?

Eight, in this order: 0379, 0380, 0381, 0382, 0489, 0515, 1403, 1916. Most owners find a working one in the list; if not, the automatic search is the backup.

My Chigo beeps but the fan button does nothing. Is the remote faulty?

Probably not. A beep means the code is close but not a full match. Enter the next Chigo code and test again; a different code often controls more buttons.

Does it heat as well as cool?

If your Chigo is a heat pump model, Heat mode is on the remote. Cooling-only units will simply ignore it.
