About the Midea Mini-Split Remote

Midea makes a huge number of the ductless mini-splits running in North American homes, and nearly all of them are operated with a handheld. If your original remote was an RG51 series remote such as the RG51A/E, or an R51 such as the R51I10BGE, this replacement is a sensible pick.

Nine Midea codes are printed in the instructions. Pick the first, test it on your indoor unit and step forward until everything you use responds. An automatic search is built in for anyone who runs through the list without a match.

It's infrared, with roughly 25 feet of range when it can see the indoor unit. A wall bracket comes with it; two AAA batteries do not. Covered for one year, returnable for 90 days, and shipped the same day when ordered by 4 PM Central.

Setup & Pairing

One code entry sets it up for Midea. Have the indoor unit in sight.

Insert two AAA batteries.
Slide the lower front panel down to reveal SELECT. Each key has a digit printed in its bottom-left corner for code entry.
Press SELECT; the code area flashes.
Enter Midea codes one at a time, in this order: 0260, 0261, 0262, 0263, 0264, 0265, 0526, 1289, 1976.
After each, aim and press power. A beep or a change means the code is talking to the unit. Should a key stay dead after that, the next Midea code on the list may cover it.
Backup: aim at the unit and hold SELECT for 5 seconds, then release. The remote steps through codes. Press any key the instant the unit reacts to save it.

Extras: set the clock by pressing CLOCK, adjusting with TIME +/-, and pressing CLOCK again. The C/F key changes the temperature units.

Will this replace my RG51A/E?

If your original remote was an RG51 series like the RG51A/E, or an R51 like the R51I10BGE or R51I11BGE, this replacement is set up for Midea with the Midea codes. Start with 0260.

My Midea code works for power but not for fan speed. What should I do?

Enter the next Midea code and test again. One of the nine usually gives full control.

How long can the automatic search take?

It can take a while, sometimes much longer than entering codes. Try the Midea list first, and keep the remote pointed at the unit during the search.

Does it come with a holder?

Yes, a wall-mount bracket is included. Batteries (two AAA) are not.
