About the Hampton Bay / Home Decorators Collection 59258 Remote

Without the 59258 remote, changing speed or dimming the light means a trip to the pull chain or the wall switch. This replacement fixes that with high, medium, low and off, light on/off and dimming. The color temperature button works on color-changing LED fans.

We built it for fans that shipped with the 59258 remote, like Home Decorators Collection 59253 fans and Hampton Bay 99918 fans. Look at the label on your old remote: if it reads 59258, you are set. Pairing is quick with four DIP switches and 16 codes.

Before you order

Hampton Bay and Home Decorators Collection use several different remotes, so the label on your old remote is the surest match.
Receiver not included, so it will not add remote control to a fan that doesn't already have one.

Setup & Pairing

Slide off the battery cover on your new 59258 remote to find the DIP switches.
Copy the up/down pattern of switches 1 to 4 from your old remote, or from the receiver in the fan canopy. A very small screwdriver opens the receiver box.
Don't know the old code? Try the 16 combinations one at a time until the fan responds.
Set switch 5 to off if your light is not dimmable. This prevents flicker.
Put in a 12V A23 battery, close the cover and test the fan and light.
Have more than one of these fans? Give each fan and its remote its own code so one remote doesn't run them all.

How do I pair the 59258 remote with my fan?

Open the battery cover and set DIP switches 1 to 4 to the same up/down pattern as your old remote or the receiver in the fan canopy. There are no buttons to hold and no programming steps.

What battery does the 59258 remote take?

One 12V A23 battery. It is not included, so grab one before the remote arrives.

Does it dim the light and change the color?

Yes. Press and hold the light button to dim, and let go when the brightness looks right. On color-changing LED fans, the color temperature button switches the light tone.

Why does one remote run all my fans, or none of them?

Fans that share a DIP code all respond to the same remote, so give each fan and its remote its own code. If the remote works only sometimes, pick a new code and set it on both the remote and the receiver.
